'Apa salahnya saya mencuba'
Oleh Rudy Imran ShamsudinRAMAI terkejut apabila ruangan Soseh-soseh semalam menyiarkan cerita mengenai penyanyi Dayang Nurfaizah turut menghadiri uji bakat One In A Million (OIAM) Ahad lalu, bersama beberapa artis lain yang sudah merakamkan album.

Malah ramai peserta dan pihak penganjur yang berada di Hotel Berjaya Times Square, Kuala Lumpur turut terkejut melihat kehadiran Dayang. Pada awalnya mereka menyangka kehadiran Dayang untuk memeriahkan lagi sesi uji bakat itu memandangkan ia adalah lokasi terakhir.Ada yang meluahkan rasa kecewa kerana menganggap peluang penyanyi yang popular dengan irama R&B itu untuk bergelar juara dan merebut hadiah bernilai RM1 juta bersama kontrak rakaman adalah besar, sekali gus menutup peluang orang lain.Namun ada juga melihat rancangan realiti televisyen (TV) terbaru terbitan 8TV itu sebagai satu ruang untuk Dayang melangkah lebih jauh.Dayang ketika dihubungi semalam, mengesahkan dia menghadiri uji bakat itu, sekali gus mengatakan dia layak untuk bertanding dalam OIAM yang akan bermula pada 26 Mei ini.“Saya rasa tidak salah untuk saya menyertai uji bakat itu, tambahan pula ia turut dibuka kepada penyanyi yang pernah menghasilkan album sebelum ini.“Ada sebab mengapa saya mahu menyertai rancangan OIAM. Pertama kerana ia menawarkan kontrak untuk menghasilkan lima album yang perbelanjaannya akan ditanggung syarikat rakaman sepenuhnya.“Penghasilan dan perbelanjaan untuk menghasilkan album itu juga agak besar dan pastinya ia akan muncul sebagai sebuah album bermutu. “Sebagai penyanyi, kekangan perbelanjaan dalam penghasilan album selalunya menjadi masalah besar. Namun perkara itu tidak akan berlaku kepada juara OIAM.“Seperkara lagi yang paling menarik perhatian saya untuk menyertai pertandingan ini adalah usaha pihak penganjur dan syarikat rakaman untuk membawa album dihasilkan juara OIAM ke peringkat antarabangsa. Pastinya ini satu peluang tidak seharusnya dilepaskan mana-mana penyanyi,” katanya.Dayang yang sanggup mengeluarkan wang sendiri untuk menghasilkan album Dayang Sayang Kamu tahun lalu berkata, dia mahu melakukan sesuatu terhadap kerjaya seninya dan melihat OIAM sebagai langkah terbaik.“Seperti semua orang tahu, dalam industri sekarang kita hanya ada dua penyanyi yang sering diberi perhatian iaitu Mawi dan Siti Nurhaliza. Saya tidak mampu untuk bersaing dengan mereka dari sudut populariti.“Untuk memastikan kerjaya seni saya juga tidak terus statik dan akhirnya tenggelam, saya harus melangkah keluar dengan menguasai pasaran muzik di negara lain. “Hanya itu saja jalan yang saya nampak sekarang. Memandangkan OIAM menawarkan apa yang saya cari, jadi mengapa tidak saya cuba mengambil peluang ini,” katanya.Apabila ditanya jika dia tidak berjaya dan kalah kepada peserta lain, dengan tenang Dayang berkata, pihaknya tidak akan rugi apa-apa kerana sudah mencuba.Katanya, kekesalan akan melanda dirinya kerana tidak mencuba dan merebut peluang besar ini.Mengenai pengalamannya sewaktu menghadiri uji bakat, Dayang berkata, dia menggigil sewaktu berhadapan dengan juri OIAM iaitu Paul Moss dan Syafinaz.“Walaupun saya pernah menyertai uji bakat pertandingan nyanyian sebelum ini tetapi OIAM berbeza. Ia benar-benar mencabar tahap kecekalan dan keberanian seseorang.“Namun, Alhamdullilah saya dapat melalui uji bakat dengan baik dan berjaya melepasi tahap pertama. Kini saya harus lalui pula tahap kedua dan menyerahkan segalanya kepada rezeki sama ada layak atau tidak,” katanya. Dalam uji bakat diadakan selama empat hari dan berakhir Ahad lalu, beberapa artis yang pernah merakamkan album turut mencuba nasib. Ini termasuklah Jim, bekas anggota kumpulan X-Factor, Billy dan Nine dari kumpulan Phyne Ballerz, Shahirah iaitu artis New Southern Record (NSR) dan bekas penyanyi syarikat rakaman EMI (M) Sdn Bhd yang juga pembaca berita 8TV, Norfatimah. Rancangan yang akan bermula pada 26 Mei ini membuka penyertaan kepada mereka yang pernah menjadi artis rakaman berbanding program realiti lain khusus untuk bakat baru.

Jaclyn a/p Joshua Thanaraj Victor (b. December 4 , 1978 ) was the winner of the first season of Malaysian Idol , and has since become a successful singer. Victor, popularly known as Jac, was the first to gain the title of Malaysian Idol , a singing competition spawned from the "Idol" series that started off as Pop Idol in the United Kingdom . As a result, she won a recording contract under Sony BMG Entertainment and collaborated with famous composers such as Aubrey Suwito, Azlan Abu Hassan, and Ajai.

Early life

Victor was born in Kepong, Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia on December 4 , 1978 . She is the first and only daughter of Maggie Victor, a single mother of Indian descendant. Her siblings includes three younger brothers. When Victor was nine years old, her father passed away prompting her mother to take on three jobs simultaneously to support her four children. At the age of eighteen, Victor started singing in clubs and hotel lounges to help overcome the financial burdens of her family.

With the support of friends and family, Victor and her band recorded an album, titled Dream . This self-produced album features songs written by Victor herself. Attempts to promote this album includes an appearance on TV show Latte.
